What is Butterfly Pea Flower?
Butterfly Pea Flower, or Clitoria ternatea, is common to Southeast Asia and is known for having a host of health benefits associated with it. Just FYI:
Studies have shown that antioxidant-rich butterfly pea flowers can assist digestion, improve complexion by stimulating collagen growth, and have a natural calming effect on the body.
Butterfly Pea Flower itself as a tea does not have much flavor, so it is often blended with supportive ingredients such as lemongrass to give the infusion some additional taste. The striking blue color of its infusion can shift to purple when an acidic ingredient shifts the pH.
Note: Butterfly Pea Flower should be avoided if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. In large quantities, it can also have the effect lowering blood pressure.
